Not just your Bubbe’s honey cake. As a beekeeper and avid cook I can take you and your honey places you’ve never been before- culinarily speaking.
So let’s get Buzzed!
Year round, the temperature inside a beehive is 35c. Year round! How do they do it?! Every bee can actually function as a tiny HVAC component for the hive. In the cold months they shrug. By shrugging their flight muscles and clustering together at the centre of the hive bees stay warm.
Warm up with this classic hot toddy cocktail recipe! Hot toddies are so easy to make. You’ll just need hot water, whiskey, honey, and lemon.
Honey 35c With Golani Honey Whiskey
You will need:
- Heat proof mugs
- Source of hot water- kettle or similar
- 180 ml hot water
- 45-50 ml whiskey
- 30g honey, to taste
- 2 to 3 teaspoons lemon juice, to taste
- 45-50 ml whiskey (we recommend Golani when they have it)
- 1 lemon round
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional, but recommended for garnish)
Make the magic happen:
- Boil the water
- Add honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick to your cups or mugs
- Add the hot water
- Stir until honey has dissolved
- Add the whiskey- do this almost last so the alcohol doesn’t completely evaporate with the 100c water etc.
- Taste, and add 1 teaspoon honey for more sweetness, and/or 1 teaspoon more lemon juice for more zing.
- Garnish with a lemon round
Enjoy!
