What’s the best way to treat a bee sting?

Remove the sting by sliding or scraping your fingernail across it, rather than pulling at it. A bees stinger is barbed and continues to inject venom for several minutes unless removed. Typical reactions are pain, swelling, and itching – in that order. Most bee stings are easily treated with common household remedies for each symptom, and abate over time. If the person has an allergy to bee stings, they can fall into a life-threatening state of anaphylactic shock. Seek medical help immediately.
